Hawaii Lava Flow Animal Rescue Network

The Hawaiʻi Lava Flow Animal Rescue Network (HLFARN) was first created to serve as an informational hub for those needing assistance with pets and animals on farms during the 2018 eruption of Kilauea on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi.

What started out as a group of individuals trying to assist during the emergency phase of the volcanic eruption soon formed into a well-coordinated group of passionate people willing to put in endless amounts of time and resources to make sure animals got rescued, transported out from the danger, and placed in foster homes.

Magical Creatures of Hamakua decided to include HLFARN as a program under its operational umbrella in order to aid in providing a network of resources to help animals from dangerous situations now and in the future after the lava emergency is over. This action arm of MCoH fulfills one of our most important purposes in our mission, to

"Rescue animals from situation that are abusive, endangering, or neglectful."

In addition to information, HLFARN provides support, volunteers, and donations directly to evacuees, Hawaiʻi Island non-profit organizations, and government agencies.
